Getting to Ty Mynydd
When you arrive at Swartz Bay via B.C. Ferry from Tsawwassen, you exit
from the ferry on Highway 17. (It's called Pat Bay Highway by locals
and on many maps, but few signs say that.) Proceed about twenty
minutes to McKenzie Avenue and turn right. Turn
right at Highway One. Pass the Colwood-View Royal exit, proceeding to
the next one, Langford-Sooke. Stay in the South (left) of the two exit
lanes, which curves around onto the Millstream Bypass (signage says
"Veterans Memorial Parkway").
Stay on the bypass (moving to centre lane), passing Can West
Shopping Centre, and later crossing Sooke Road. The bypass ends in a T
at Latoria. Turn right, passing the Olympic View Golf Course, until
Latoria ends in a T at Happy Valley Road. Turn left. Turn right (just
after the large teal house on your right) on Lindholm Road.
Our drive is on the left, 4493 Lindholm Road,
"Ty Mynydd". Our log house is the one at the top of the
private driveway (the lower one is younger son Matthew's).
If coming from town, Douglas Street turns into Highway One, and then
proceed as above.
Scenic route alternative:
before McKenzie, turn right on Royal Oak. It becomes in turn
Wilkenson (notice the red brick prison which looks like a castle on
right), and then Helmcken Rd. Turn right on Highway One just after
passing the Hospital, and exit as above at Langford-Sooke.
